My Red Day

February the 14th can be met in one of three ways. You either love it.  You are majorly anti it, as it is just a commercialised  holiday where the price of roses and chocolates go through the roof. Or you fall into depression because you did not get a rose or card. But I think there is actually a fourth way. One that takes something from each of the above mentioned ways. My Red Day thoughts are these; yes it is a day where the price of roses and chocolates and cards go up but who says you have to buy roses, chocolates or cards. You can still show love without buying  a gift. A small act of kindness can go a long way. Sharing your own talents with someone or offering them your time can also bless them and show them love. I decided I was not going to fall into the third category either, just because I didn’t have a valentine. So I decided to show some of my wonderful friends that I care on this Red Day. I invited a great friend to join me in her lunch break and I used Red as my theme. I was given these wonderful soup bowls for my birthday a while back and decided it was the perfect time to use them. I made delicious butternut soup and fresh rosemary bread for lunch.

As my friend’s lunch hour was just that, an hour it was a quick but good catch up. I realised  there would not be time for dessert as well so I chose a chocolate, that was in keeping with my Red theme, that she could take with her and eat later when she had a break – have a break, have a KitKat. My day was not over yet, I then spent the afternoon with another great friend and kept an eye on her little angel, giving her a free hand to get some things done. It was a great day of food and love. Even my family got sent a picture of my heart-shaped cookies but unfortunately their phones could not open the image. Oh dear.

My Red Day did not stop there, if fact it started here:A breakfast fruit smoothie shot. I took lots of fruit and frozen berries and blended them together to make a delicious refreshing Red drink.

But why only think about Love once a year. We should think about it everyday. Everyday we should find small ways to tell the people around us we care.

It can start with a simple smile
